The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is currently appealing a decision concerning world number one tennis sensation Jannik Sinner, who was previously cleared of doping violations several times. This appeal was lodged with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) earlier in September 2024, following a ruling by an independent tribunal that found Sinner had "no fault or negligence" after he tested positive for clostebol, a prohibited substance, in March 2024.
According to recent reports, WADA is seeking a decision requesting a new ruling that he committed two Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) under the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme (TADP) without applying the "no fault or negligence" clause.
"In its appeal to CAS, WADA seeks annulment of the challenged decision and a new decision ruling that Jannik Sinner has committed two Anti Doping rule violations.. WADA requests CAS to impose a sanction of a period of ineligibility between one and two years."

In addition, WADA is asking for a suspension period of one to two years for Italian sensation Sinner and aims to confirm the disqualification of all competitive results he achieved during the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells as his punishment after being indulged in the doping saga.

However, the tribunal had determined that the 23-year-old tennis star was unintentionally and unknowingly contaminated by a banned substance through treatment given by his physiotherapist, whom he had removed as well after getting caught. Despite this ruling, WADA stated that Sinner is the only one who will be bearing the responsibility for substances found in their bodies and argued and further said that ruling does not align with established anti-doping rules.
