Tara Moore has been sentenced to a four-year ban from Tennis after she was found guilty of being involved in doping, just 18 months after she was cleared by an independent tribunal. Moore was subjected to a doping Test in April 2022, where the banned substances nandrolone and boldenone were found, and had to wait for 19 months for clearance from an independent tribunal.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) released a statement to address the decision, in which it claimed that the concentration of nandrolone was consistent and failed to establish that the ADRV wasn't intentional. Back when Moore appealed for the case in 2022, she claimed that the concentration of nandrolone could be due to the contaminated meat she had consumed without her knowledge.

"After reviewing the scientific and legal evidence, the majority of the CAS panel considered that the player did not succeed in proving that the concentration of nandrolone in her sample was consistent with the ingestion of contaminated meat,' CAS's statement read.

"The panel concluded that Ms Moore failed to establish that the ADRV (Anti-Doping Rule Violation) was not intentional. The appeal by the ITIA is therefore upheld and the decision rendered by the Independent Tribunal is set aside," CAS added in their statement.

"Tara Moore did not adequately explain the high level of nandrolone present in her sample" - ITIA chief executive

Karen Moorhouse claimed that the ITIA's independent scientific advice was that Moore did not explain the high content of nandrolone in the sample. The ITIA chief executive gave the British star and her team a platform to question the decision after reviewing the details of the ruling.

"In this case, our independent scientific advice was that the player did not adequately explain the high level of nandrolone present in their sample. Today's ruling is consistent with this position. We understand that players and their support teams may have questions about this decision, and we will answer these fully once we have reviewed the details of the ruling," Karen Moorhouse said.
