Tennis star Ben Shelton has secured a place in the fourth round of the French Open 2025. The young American player defeated Matteo Gigante in the third round and advanced to the fourth round of Roland Garros. One of the main highlights of this game was the star player sealing a point after an unorthodox play. He was later seen making fun of himself over the same.
Shelton lost his balance during one of the exchanges and slipped after hitting a powerful forehand. His opponent kept the ball in play with a left forehand. Following that, the 22-year-old tennis star slipped and scrambled but managed to hit a stunning one-handed left backhand to surprise his opponent.
Subsequently, Shelton defeated the Italian star with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the fourth round of the 2025 French Open. Shelton took to Instagram and shared a post featuring a screenshot of his unconventional gameplay during his third round of the French Open 2025.

Meanwhile, Shelton now sets to face a daunting task in his next game. The young American star is now set to face defending champion and world number two Carlos Alcaraz in the fourth round of the French Open. The star player needs to do something special if he aims to create history by defeating the four-time Grand Slam champion in this game.
“It was very different having five days off between my first and third rounds. I was thinking about going home to the US for a few days to relax, but I stayed here and I’m really looking forward to being in the second week. It’s my first time being in the second week here at the French, the only Slam where I haven’t been in the second week yet. I couldn’t be happier with doing that today. I think we are all pushing each other and working hard,” said Shelton.
