Sabalenka major losses in her life

The talented tennis player faced a significant personal challenge when her ex-boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov passed away in March. In a thoughtful interview with the Guardian, Sabalenka reflected on how she navigated the grief of Koltsov's death, drawing parallels to her experience with her father's passing. She found strength and healing by channeling her emotions into her passion for tennis.

"Once, I lost my father and tennis helped me to go through that tough loss. So at that moment [of Koltsov’s death] I thought I had to just keep going, keep playing, keep doing my thing to separate my personal life from my career life," she said.

Aryna Sabalenka reflected on her recent experiences, acknowledging that taking a break from tennis during her grief might have been a beneficial choice. However, she also expressed her gratitude for the presence of tennis in her life. Sabalenka emphasized that the sport provides a refreshing contrast to the challenges she has faced. At just 25, she has endured significant loss, including the passing of her father and the tragic death of a former boyfriend from a Miami high-rise earlier this year. Through it all, tennis has served as a vital source of solace and strength for her.

Sabalenka's fight with mental health

Earlier, Aryna Sabalenka opted not to attend an open news conference following her impressive third-round victory at the French Open, prioritizing her mental health and well-being. When questioned about her stance on Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and the war in Ukraine, Sabalenka chose to maintain her privacy and declined the question. "I should be able to feel safe when I do interviews with the journalists after my matches," Sabalenka said.

"For my own mental health and well-being, I have decided to take myself out of this situation today, and the tournament has supported me in this decision." She added. In a positive light, she shared an Instagram story that showcased her inner strength and emphasized her pride in the resilient spirit she embodies.
