Aryna Sabalenka beat Coco Gauff 7-6(5), 6-2 in her WTA Finals 2025 match and qualified for the semifinals of the tournament. In the process, the WTA No.1 became the first woman to reach 4 consecutive WTA Finals semifinals since Maria Sharapova, who achieved the feat from 2004 to 2007. The Belarusian will face Amanda Anisimova in her semifinal matchup.
At one stage in the first set of the match, the star player was 4-5, 0-30 down and went on to win it in the tiebreaker. After the match, the interviewer asked Sabalenka how she was able to stay composed and get the job done at that point.

The star player cheekily replied saying if she was aware of such a trick, she would not put herself in such a situation ever. "If I would know, probably I wouldn't put myself in that situation. Super happy with the performance & to get this win in straight sets," Sabalenka said after beating Gauff.

In the semifinal, Aryna will be up against Amanda Anisimova, who made through after losing the first match of her group stage encounter. When asked about the challenge ahead of her, Sabalenka said it's always a great battle against the American, who makes her work hard to claim points.

Sabalenka added that she enjoys playing with Amanda and was excited to face her in the Semifinal. "She's always making me work hard. Always great battles against her. Always enjoy playing against her. Super excited to face her in the semis. I really hope it's going to be a great level match," Sabalenka added in her statement.
