Tennis star Alexander Zverev has talked about the chances of a host of his French Open rivals as he made a candid prediction about star player Carlos Alcaraz. The German-born star has stormed into the pre-quarters of the French Open 2025 after defeating Flavio Cobolli with a scoreline of 6-2, 7-6 (4), 6-1. The star player has now made it to the last 16 and aims to seal the quarter-final berth in this game.
Zverev made the 2024 finals before he lost his game against Carlos Alcaraz in the summit clash. If he manages to place himself in the quarter-finals, he is likely to face Novak Djokovic. The duo last faced each other in the Australian Open 2025 semi-finals, where the game was adjusted as a 'walkover' with the Serbian ace pulling out from the tournament due to a knee injury.

Alexander Zverev's bold prediction for Carlos Alcaraz
Meanwhile, the world number three is set to face Jannik Sinner in the semi-final thriller. After defeating Coboli in his third round of the Roland Garros, Zverev asserted that Alcaraz would make it to the final showdown. The 28-year-old tennis star feels that Alcaraz has easy draws and his seven opponents will not trouble him much.
Zverev further stated that defending champion Alcaraz is one of the favorites to win the title here. He stated that all the tough opponents are not placed in Alcaraz's draw, which makes him the favorite to win the title with an easy win over the rest of the opponents.
“I honestly think Carlos will be in the final. To be very fair, I don’t think there’s anyone on that side of the draw that will challenge him too much. He’s the favourite, of course. Before coming into the tournament, I think everyone kind of realised that. All the people who can challenge him, all the contenders outside of him, are on the top half of the draw. We will have to really battle it out and I’ll think he’ll enjoy watching it,” Zverev proclaimed in his press conference.
