Alexander Zverev keeps maiden Grand Slam hopes alive after beating Nakashima in round 4 of US Open

The US Open has been a treat to watch for the fans and we have had some incredible matches so far. The 4th round of the tournament is something that all of us have been waiting for since this will be the last round before the playoffs and there are still a lot of top ranked players in the mix. 

One of the players that many fans have been rooting for to finally get his hands on a Grand Slam is Alexander Zverev. The World number 4 has made it to 2 Grand Slam finalist and is currently facing the American surprise package in Brandon Nakashima who has beaten some to seeded players to give himself a chance to make it to his first ever Grand Slam playoffs.

Zverev outshines Nakashima in 4-set match

We have seen Nakashima surprise us in some matches before and looking at the first set it really seemed like we were about to see another upset coming up with the American winning 6-3 to put the pressure on the World number 4. However, this time the German had fate on his side as he made a solid come back winning the next three sets with scores of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2. In the end it was Zverev's day as he makes it to the playoffs of another Grand Slam event and will be having high hopes going forward.

There are many moments where we have been waiting for the time where we actually see the Olympic Gold medalist finally get his hands on that Grand Slam trophy. there have been many heartbreaking moments which Zverev has suffered and he will be hoping he finally gets his hands on the trophy. He will now be up against Taylor Fritz in the quarter finals and there is no doubt he will be up for the test once again. There will be a lot of German fans hoping that this US Open tournament will be the day where he will win a major trophy for the first time in his career.
