The US Open is currently in the last round before the playoffs and there are still some big players in the WTA scene. One of the players who ahs impressed us so far is Coco Gauff, whose title defense so far has looked impeccable. After all this is where the World number 3 had first tasted Olympic glory and became a young sensatiion everyone has been looking forward to in this modern era.
The American number one this time was up against Emma navarro and this was set to be one of the biggest test in the tournament for Coco Gauff who has her sights on the title after having a few disappointing tournaments before the Grand Slam event. In fact Navarro had beaten her in 4th round of Wimbledon as well which means this was time for redemption for the 20-year-old superstar.
Gauff title hopes ends at round 4
Gauf has had a great winning streak in New York so far and has shown that she is here to perform in her previous games, unfortunately this 4th round game did not start in her favor as she went on to lose the first set to Navarro by a score of 6-3. However we all know that Gauff was not ready to give up on her second US Open title dreams as she came back in the second set winning it by a margin of 6-4. The third and last set was now do or die and it was still anybody's game. Unfortunatley the defense of Gauff could only survive till round 4
Though we did see some great tennis from Gauff in the US Open this season, it is certain that she will be without a Grand Slam title this season. We have to give Nvarro the props as well who kept the pressure on Gauff and was the one to spoil the party for the World number 3 in this thrilling 3-set match and has made it to the quarter finals.
