The Monte Carlo Masters started in great fashion with some great matches and upsets at the start. Even after some surprise withdrawals from some big players, it has still been a great tournament to witness so far. There have already been some big players featuring in this tournament and it will be interesting to see which player will be on top in the future.

One of the young players that we were looking forward to is Alexander Zverev. The 26-year-old German has been one of the top players since his gold medal in the 2020 Olympics. Zverev is still one of top top-ranked players in ATP and there is no stopping the aggressive baseline player who has been a 5-time semi-finalist and one-time finalist in grand slams to go with his 21 ATP singles titles. He is also one of the favourites going into this current tournament as well.

Zverev goes through Ofner

Zverev was up against Austrian Sebastian Ofner in the 2nd round of the tournament. Ofner though was a lower-seeded player did try his best to try and put pressure on the World number 5, but eventually fell short in both sets. It was another comfortable victory for Zverev who beat Ofner in two straight sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-4. This was enough to put him through to the next round and be just one game away from the quarter-finals.

Zverev might not be one of the luckiest players in the major tournaments, but the ATP singles is where he has shined in most of his career. There is no reason to count Zverev out in this tournament at all. He has had some big wins over major players in the past, and he is capable of conquering them again. This still might be early days in the tournament, but it is safe to say that the up-and-coming German superstar will be going for the prize in the Monte Carlo Masters.
