The Monte Carlo Masters has now begun and some big matches are coming up. The entire top 5 world ranking players are set to play their first game of the tournament. The clay season is set to start for these world-class players. This will be one of the testing periods for the players on one of the toughest surfaces to play on in tennis. With the French Open also coming up this is the best tournament to get their season started.

Even though we have had some great players play at this venue, some players have made Monte Carlo their home. These players have chosen to move to this place for many specific reasons. Monte Carlo is the home of many great tennis clubs and has some iconic sceneries as well. There is no doubt that some great players have decided to move to this iconic city which is not only a beautiful place to live but also allows them to work on their game.

One of the upcoming talents who was rising through the ranks was 27-year-old Italian Matteo Beretteni. Berrettini was one of the top 10 ATP-ranked players for 2 years. Even though he is not at the top right now, he still has impressed us with his aggressive serves and powerful forehand shots. Berrettini also has 8 ATP singles tournaments to his name as well. The only ATP tournament he has failed to get his hands on is the Monte Carlo Masters. Berretini, despite his average record in this venue still says that he has enjoyed playing at this venue. Since this was the tournament that got him his first win on clay he considers it his home and has decided to live in the city.

2020 gold medalist Alexander Zverev is currently one of the best players in the world right now and currently holds the number 5 ranking in ATP. Zverev has already won 21 ATP singles titles. The 26-year-old German has been impressing everyone with his brilliant ground strokes and quick services. Zverev might not have won the masters, but he has revealed that he has enjoyed playing at this venue saying it felt like a home tournament to him. This was enough for the Germans to move to Monte Carlo permanently.

Another top-ranked player in the mix is Daniil Medvedev who has been one of the iconic players, known for his counter-punching and elegant game. Medvedev came into the limelight after winning the 2021 US Open by defeating Novak Djokovic in the finals. Medvedev might have not had a successful record on clay but has still managed to make the knockouts in the Monte Carlo Masters multiple times. The reason for his moving to the city is different compared to the others which he revealed saying “ As a teenager and going to tournaments, I thought it would have been much better to live in Europe or the United States than in Russia.” This reason explains the intellectual skill of Medvedev which he also displays on the tennis court.

The 25-year-old Greek had made it to 2 grand slam finals and had wins over Medvedev and Zverev. Even though he is not in the top 10 rankings anymore, we cannot forget his achievements in the game. Tsitsipas has won 10 ATP singles career titles which also include 2 Monte Carlo wins as well. He has enjoyed playing here so much he decided to buy a house in 2022 and live in Monte Carlo.

Just like any other tournament the Monte Carlo Masters is one of the tournaments that Novak Djokovic has dominated. With two titles to his name which include a win against Rafael Nadal as well. This tournament seems to hold great significance to the current world number 1. Djokovic is currently living in a hillside mansion at this iconic venue. Djokovic has been enjoying his time at Monte Carlo where he has enjoyed the views and the destinations in the city. It is safe to say that he will be looking for another title victory at his current home ground right now.
