Olympics 2036: India to bid Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bhubaneswar, and Bhopal as collective hosts

India could send a proposal to host the Olympics 2036 in 5 different cities. While Ahmedabad is likely to be the main host, cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bhubaneswar, and Bhopal are being looked at as cities to host events like Cricket, Canoeing and Kayaking, Hockey, and Rowing, respectively. The officials are looking to make the Olympics 2036 a national phenomenon.

One of the officials related to sending the bid to the International Olympic Committee claimed that the idea is to bring the entire nation together to host the event. The official was not sure of the final result but confirmed that the plan would be presented to the IOC, keeping in mind the logistical challenges.

"This is something in the making. How the final picture will look, none of us know right now. We will make a plan and present it to the IOC," said the official. It was revealed that the officials and the government wish to see the Olympics being hosted by different parts of the country with unique sports cultures.

Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bhubaneswar, and Bhopal as Olympics 2036 hosts?

"Based on those conversations, decisions will be taken. We want to take sports to other parts of India and make it a movement for the entire country," added the official in their statement. The focus seems to be on making the Olympics a national event to ensure the motivating factor for a common citizen of India.

The official concluded by saying the aim is to make India a global destination for sports. "The Olympics can be a motivating factor, but these are aimed at the larger public good in terms of health and recreation as well as making the city a destination for international sports," the statement said.

As per the reports, 4 other cities are looked at as hosting options. While Ahmedabad will be the main host, Mumbai could host Cricket. Bhopal and Bhubaneswar could host Rowing and Hockey respectively. Pune is reported to be a host of events like Canoeing and Kayaking respectively.
