Former Australia skipper Steve Smith is quite popular because of his unique and unorthodox batting style. This style has helped him score many runs and achieve multiple milestones, especially in Test Cricket. Smith has a quirky, open stance and holds his bat upright. In addition, he always keeps moving before the bowler bowls a delivery to confuse him.

Meanwhile, a video is getting viral on the internet, shared on X by one of the most experienced umpires in Cricket, Richard Kettleborough's parody account. In the video, a young Indian cricketer can be seen imitating Smith’s unique batting style. From leaving deliveries to playing cover drives, the kid’s actions closely resemble Smith’s signature moves.

Smith was terrific in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, scoring two back-to-back centuries against India. He was one of the most consistent batters in the team, taking catches and scoring runs. Even though the start of the series was a bit lousy, he managed to end it in a great manner.

Steven Smith appointed as interim captain for Australia

For the upcoming Sri Lanka series, Steven Smith was made the interim captain of Australia. Pat Cummins is taking paternity leave and will be resting because of an ankle injury. Hence, Smith is given the responsibility of the team. Now that Australia have qualified for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 finals, they'll be doing some experiments with the team combinations.

Australia's chief selector George Bailey said, "Sri Lanka is a challenging and exciting place to tour given the different conditions players may be presented with. This squad provides several ways to structure the XI depending on what type of wickets we may encounter in each match."
