Indian Women hammered South Korean women 175-18 in their first match of the Kho Kho World Cup 2025 in New Delhi. It was a historic win as the difference of 157 points is the highest in World Cup history so far. Priyanka Ingle, the Indian skipper, spoke about the challenge of winning the World Cup compared to other tournaments and hoped to script history.

The match had no competition from South Korean women at any point in time. India was way too good for their challengers. The Indian skipper Priyanka Ingle starred with all the other players and ensured the team crossed the line with the biggest margin of win in the history of the Kho Kho World Cup.

After the match, Ingle spoke to the media and was happy to script history to start their campaign. "This was our first match of the Kho Kho World Cup. We put up a really good score...Our girls were practicing hard for a month," said Ingle in the post-match talk. She was asked about the performance of the South Korean women.

'1.5 billion expectations and then cameras around it does give us some feelings of nervousness' - Indian captain

Priyanka felt the Korean women did not have skills as they did not have exposure against the top teams in the world. "Since this is the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup, they do not have many skills. But in the time to come, South Korea and others can do well," added Priyanka in her statement.

Ingle spoke about the difference between winning a normal tournament and a Kho Kho World Cup. While she claimed to have won the South Asian Games, Ingle said it was a completely different experience to play the World Cup where the cameras focusing on the players could make them nervous.

The Indian captain was confident of winning the World Cup. "I have won medals at the South Asian Games, but the World Cup with 1.5 billion expectations and then cameras around it does give us some feelings of nervousness. But I am hopeful we’ll be up for it," added Priyanka.
