At AEW Revolution, which will take place on March 9 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against Adam Copeland. A tumultuous scenario featuring Cope, Jay White, and a stolen title briefcase preceded the official announcement of the event on the February 12 edition of AEW Dynamite.
Jon Moxley's title briefcase was taken by Cope and White, who threatened to use "Spike," a spiked 2x4, to open it. When they were about to follow through on their threat, Moxley intervened and accepted the match. He did not, however, end there. Moxley stated that he wants to create an impression and is not only battling to keep the title.
The briefcase was taken back by The Death Riders, which included Wheeler Yuta, PAC, Marina Shafir, and Claudio Castagnoli, who attacked Adam Copeland and White before the situation could calm down. Cope and White proved they weren't backing down ahead of the AEW Revolution clash by fighting back and standing tall once the dust cleared, despite the numbers game.

In less than a month, Moxley called for a match as part of Revolution, ultimately fulfilling Copeland's ambition. Copeland then proceeded to try to open the briefcase nevertheless, which led to a fight that ended Dynamite's life. For the first time since joining the organisation in 2023, Copeland will compete for the AEW World Championship with the forthcoming booking.
Jon Moxley defeated Bryan Danielson to win title
He has already won the TNT Championship twice, including in 2024 for a total of 70 days. Moxley, who became the champion in October after defeating Bryan Danielson, will be making his third PPV appearance. He defeated Orange Cassidy in a singles battle and Adam Page, Jay White, and Cassidy in a four-way match in his previous triumphs as champion.
Moxley and Copeland are anticipated to face off as part of Saturday's Grand Slam: Australia event in Brisbane before their March meeting. In a "Brisbane Brawl," Copeland and Jay White will take on Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli.
