After their last encounter ended in a tie, Nic Nemeth and Josh Alexander would face off again at tonight's TNA Emergence pay-per-view for a 60-minute Iron Man match to provide a proper finale. As predicted, it was incredibly tight throughout, with Nemeth taking a 2–0 lead until Alexander took two falls in short succession to tie things up.
After an exciting back-and-forth in the final minutes, Nemeth defeated Alexander 3–2, but his celebration was cut short by WWE Hall of Famer John Layfield, who came out and shouted something in Nemeth's ear before departing. Nemeth concluded by accepting Moose's challenge for the title at Victory Road. Nemeth and Alexander both demonstrated their technical skill set early on, countering each other's attacks and swapping holds, with Nemeth landing a roll-up and the match's first pinfall.
Alexander attacked Nic Nemeth's leg throughout the match, hoping to tire him out, and later included Nemeth's back in his offensive strategy. When Alexander struck Nemeth with a weapon he had hidden from the referee, the tides turned in his favour, and he managed to pin the Champion. Then, just after Alexander successfully hits a C4 Spike, he wins another pinball, tying the score at two. Alexander moved fast for a third, but Nemeth threw off his clothes and peered inside a sleeper hold. After holding this for a long, Nemeth managed to drop Alexander over a table.

After blocking many attempts at a C4 Spike, Nemeth managed to hit the Danger Zone and then successfully launched his own C4 Spike, which ended the clock and gave Nemeth the victory. Following the win JBL entered the ring following the victory, The Showoff was left speechless. Then the 57-year-old veteran went up to Nemeth and said something in his ear in a whisper.
Meanwhile, JBL has never squared off against Nic Nemeth in a ring match, whether it be a singles bout or a multi-man match that wasn't a Battle Royal. The pair only shared the ring for one battle, which took place back in 2014. The 30-man Royal Rumble Match was contested by both men at the 2014 Royal Rumble.
