On October 2, AEW presented a historic program that had one amazing main event. Kazuchika Okada accepted Bryan Danielson's challenge, and the two greatly outperformed each other in Pittsburgh. October 2, 2024, has already been hailed by Tony Khan as one of the most significant days in AEW history. Not only did they launch a new television partnership, but tonight will see the firm celebrate their 5th Anniversary special of AEW Dynamite.
A fight for the AEW World Championship will pit The Elite's AEW Continental Champion, "The Rainmaker," Kazuchika Okada, against AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson, in honor of AEW Dynamite's 50th anniversary. Interestingly, the opening 20 minutes of the match will be when the AEW Continental Championship is up for grabs. This requirement is intriguing, which is why several made fun of it, including MJF.
With just a few minutes remaining before the hour's end, this bout began, but AEW was given a lengthy overrun for this week's broadcast. This was crucial because, like in all of Bryan Danielson's AEW World belt battles, he declared that he would retire after losing the belt.

With their eyes fixed intently on every second that Kazuchika Okada and Danielson spent in the ring, the Pittsburgh crowd was more than prepared for this encounter. They made fun of Okada losing the championship to Danielson, even after Bryan successfully executed a Psycho Knee with just a minute remaining in the 20-minute time limit. Okada then rolled to the outside of the ring as the allotted time ran out.
