In a thrilling main event at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City, Alex Pereira once again proved why he is one of the most feared fighters in the light heavyweight division. Defending his title against underdog Khalil Rountree Jr., Pereira delivered a devastating performance. He ended the bout with a brutal fourth-round TKO, leaving Rountree's face almost unrecognizable after the relentless assault.

The fight started with fireworks, as Rountree came out swinging in round one, determined to make his mark. Despite Pereira’s reputation for knockout power, Rountree showcased impressive speed and landed several clean shots, including a big right hand that clipped the champion. Though Rountree's early aggression earned him the first round, his explosive energy began to wane as the fight progressed.

Round two saw a slight shift in momentum. While Rountree continued to press with counter shots, Pereira started to find his rhythm, using his signature leg kicks to weaken the challenger. However, Rountree wasn’t done yet. He landed a crushing counter on Pereira’s nose, dropping the champ momentarily and raising hopes of an upset. But Pereira quickly recovered and was far from rattled, pushing forward with a dangerous high kick as the round came to an end.

Pereira returns the favour with relentless attacks!

By the third round, the tide was fully turning in Alex Pereira’s favour. While Rountree opened with some body shots, Pereira retaliated with punishing jabs and a flying knee that signalled the beginning of the end. As the fight entered the championship rounds, it became clear that Rountree was running on empty. His earlier energy had faded, and Pereira took full advantage.

The fourth round was nothing short of brutal. Pereira, sensing his opponent’s exhaustion, attacked relentlessly, opening a gash over Rountree’s right eye with a sharp jab. What followed was a devastating combination of strikes that left Rountree bloodied and battered. With Rountree backed up against the fence, Pereira delivered two powerful body shots followed by a crushing uppercut that sent Rountree collapsing to the canvas, ending the fight.

Referee intervention was unnecessary as Rountree simply could not withstand any more punishment. Pereira secured the win via TKO at 4:32 of the fourth round, cementing his dominance in the light heavyweight division of UFC. Rountree’s face told the story—a testament to the sheer brutality of Pereira’s striking.
