In April 2024, Jon Moxley finally fulfilled his ambition of becoming the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion; nevertheless, on June 9, he encountered a significant obstacle. With a formidable requirement for the bout, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has now officially declared that the odds will be even more stacked against the AEW star.

At NJPW Windy City Riot, Jon Moxley defeated Tetsuya Naito to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. He has since successfully defended the belt against Powerhouse Hobbs, Ren Narita, and Shota Umino. EVIL, the evil head of the House of Torture, is his next opponent.

EVIL wants to make sure he has backing from his team when Moxley visits NJPW Dominion on June 9 in Osaka, so he requested that a condition be added to their title fight. The Bullet Club star slammed Mox in an interview with New Japan's website yesterday.

According to Sportskeeda, "Since this low-life mud show ‘wrestler' wants to run away from any kind of a fair fight under IWGP rules, then I have something for him. June 9 in Osaka Jo Hall, a Lumberjack Match for the title. That way, he has no escape." New Japan has revealed that the two will compete in a Lumberjack Match on the pay-per-view.

Cardona just made his AEW comeback

EVIL isn't the only one pursuing Jon Moxley's crown; The Purveyor of Violence has lately defeated several contenders in elimination bouts. Former WWE Superstar Matt Cardona seemed to want in on the fun as well.

Cardona has become something of a belt collector in the indie circuit, having won several titles throughout the world in recent years. Jon Moxley defeated the self-proclaimed Indy God for the GCW World Championship in September 2021, and the former Zack Ryder never received a rematch. Mox lost the championship to Nick Gauge a month later.

To battle Adam Copeland for the TNT Championship, Cardona just made his AEW comeback. Despite his failure, The Indy God succeeded in realizing a lifelong ambition.
