Joe Hendry wished to face John Cena for the TNA Championship after beating Nic Nemeth at TNA Genesis. The TNA star remembered the first instance of him speaking with John and felt he had to finish the story with the Leader of the Cenation Army. Hendry considered himself underrated on the mic and felt he could hang with Cena against him.
Joe Hendry recalled how his friend indirectly helped him to talk to Cena in a phone. Joe said he could not attend a show named 'Meet and Greet'. He claimed his friend asked Cena if he could make a call to have a chat with Hendry. Joe claimed that Cena held up the show and personally took 5 miniutes to call him.
Hendry confirmed that Cena was the first wrestler with whom he talked and felt he needed to finish the story of facing him. After beating Nic Nemeth to become the new TNA Champion, Hendry wished to face Cena for the TNA Championship during his ongoing Farewell tour.
'I believe that I can hang with John Cena on the mic' - Joe Hendry
"John Cena held up the meet and greet, phoned me from my friend's phone and talked to me for 5 minutes. He was the first wrestler I ever spoke to, and to me, I feel that's the story I need to finish, facing John Cena and why not let's do it for this [TNA] championship," said Hendry.
Joe felt people do not know how good he is on the mic. The TNA Champion felt he could bring the best out of himself when unprepared. He felt Cena was someone who speaks facts about people. He claimed Cena a powerful individual on the mic and believed he could hang with him on the mic.
"I honestly believe that people haven't seen what I can truly do on the microphone yet. I feel so comfortable going out there with nothing prepared. I know how powerful he is on that microphone, but I believe that I can hang with John Cena," added Hendry.
