Indian shooting sensation Manu Bhaker, who has already made significant strides at the Paris Olympics 2024, faced a heartbreaking finish in her bid for a record third medal. After securing bronze medals in both the 10m Air Pistol individual event and the mixed team event, Bhaker looked poised to add another accolade to her impressive career in the 25m Air Pistol individual event.

Having qualified in second place, expectations were high for the young Olympian as she entered the finals. Throughout the competition, Bhaker demonstrated remarkable skill and composure, maintaining a steady performance across multiple rounds. Her scores were commendable, with rounds of 2/5, 4/5, 4/5, 3/5, 5/5, 4/5, 4/5, and 2/5, reflecting her consistency and determination.

However, the finals proved to be a stern test of nerves, especially in the intense shoot-off for the third position. Bhaker found herself up against Hungarian shooter Veronica Major, a formidable opponent. In the end, it was Major who emerged victorious, leaving Bhaker just shy of the podium, finishing in fourth place.

Korean shooter dominates the event!

The gold medal in the event was clinched by Jinn Yang from Korea, with France’s Camille securing the silver after a shootoff. Despite the disappointment, Bhaker's overall performance at the Paris Olympics remains a testament to her talent and dedication. Her efforts contributed to India's medal tally, which currently stands at three bronze medals, all of which have come from the shooting events.

Manu Bhaker's journey in Paris, while not yielding the ultimate result in the 25m Air Pistol, underscores her status as one of India's most promising young athletes. Her resilience and skill in such a high-pressure environment will undoubtedly fuel her future endeavours as she continues to strive for excellence on the global stage.
