Argentina lost to France in the Paris Olympics 2024 tournament thanks to a single by Jean-Phillipe Mateta who scored the goal in the 5th minute of the game. This result also meant that France has now qualified for the semi-finals. 

The end of the game was marred by an ugly scuffle on the field as soon as the final whistle was sounded. Players from both sides were involved in an angry scuffle that saw both the benches get cleared. There was pushing and shoving as players from both sides were involved in angry exchanges. 

It seemed as if the tempers had cooled down but there was more drama in store. Players and officials could be seen running down the tunnel as the two sets of players were yet again involved in a terrible scuffle. 

Paris Olympics football semi-finals set 

It is going to be a blockbuster clash as Egypt will take on Morocco in one of the semi-finals. The second semi-finals will pit the Spanish side against home team France. The end of the game between Argentina and France wasn’t something many would have hoped to see on the field. 

It was the most awaited match of the Paris Olympics 2024 and Bordeaux fans were on their feet. The home side went ahead in the 5th minute as Mateta scored via header thanks to some good play from the wing. 

Argentina too created a host of chances and tried to get back into the contest. The French backline was resolute as they braved every chance that was created by the Argentine side. 

The biggest chance came in the 23rd minute via a break on the counter but Zenon didn’t manage to finish. Mateta on the other hand kept pressing and the chances came by the dozens for the home team. 

The French goalkeeper was the hero through the course of the contest as he blocked one chance after the other. Simeone would have made it 1-1 but he missed the headed chance as the ball went wide. The game saw 8 minutes of added time but the French side held on as the entire drama unfolded after the final whistle.
