Former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij paid a special visit to Dheen village in Ambala to honour Sarabjot Singh, who recently made headlines by clinching a bronze medal in the 10-meter pistol mixed event at the Paris Olympics 2024. Sarabjot's victory, achieved alongside Manu Bhaker, marked India's second medal at the prestigious event, bringing immense pride to his hometown and the country.

Anil Vij, known for his spirited support of local athletes, was visibly moved as he met with Sarabjot and his family. Embracing the young shooter, Vij expressed his heartfelt congratulations, remarking, "Your son has made Ambala, Haryana, and the country proud."

His words reflected the deep connection and hope he had always placed in Sarabjot, as he recounted, "Whenever Sarabjot Singh used to come to me, I always told him that I had high expectations from him, and today, he has lived up to those expectations."

The visit was not just a formal occasion but a celebration infused with emotion and cultural pride. In a touching gesture, Vij honoured Sarabjot by placing the Olympic medal back around his neck, symbolizing the immense pride that the entire region feels for his achievement. The atmosphere was electric with the sounds of "Bole So Nihal" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

Vij even led the crowd in a spirited Bhangra dance to a specially composed song celebrating Sarabjot's victory, the lyrics of which highlighted the pride of the nation, "Bharat Nu bhaag Lag Gaye, Medal Jeetke Layaya Sarabjot."

The song and dance were not just a tribute but a reflection of the joy and pride that Sarabjot's success has brought to the people of Ambala. Vij's visit also underscored the importance of the facilities and support provided to athletes in Haryana. He emphasized that the government's efforts to develop international-level facilities in Ambala are bearing fruit, as athletes like Sarabjot continue to bring glory to the state and the country.

"When the national flag is hoisted at the Olympics and the national anthem is played, one's chest swells with pride," Vij remarked, highlighting the emotional impact of such achievements on the collective national spirit.
