The gold medal match of the Paris Olympics 2024 will take place on Friday night between Spain and France. Spain were able to overcome Morocco and France, on the other hand, were able to knock out Egypt in stunning fashion.

Egypt punished France heavily during the second half when Saber struck against the flow of play to quiet Groupama Stadium. Right of center, the defender found himself somewhat outside the goal area. With no chance for Restes to stop it, he fired the ball towards the top corner of the net.

With just the goalie to beat, Jean Mateta receives a pass from Michael Olise. The ball was heading into the top corner when he fired to Alaa's left, tying the score. The French players questioned whether Egypt had attempted a handball inside the area; but, following a thorough VAR inspection, the possibility was dismissed.

The game went into extra-time and the possibilities of penalties looked on the cards. Omar Fayed was sent off in the first minute and it changed the tie completely. Mateta and Olise scored in either half of extra-time to ensure France’s smooth passage to the gold medal match.

Spain clinch amazing comeback to ruin Morocco’s gold medal hopes

Spain is going to compete in the men's final for the second time at the Olympic Games. Santi Denia's team had a difficult time in Marseille, but they overcame adversity to clinch their spot into the gold medal match. La Rojita's game didn't start well as Morocco took the lead early in the first half. After it was determined that Pablo Barrios had fouled Amir Richardson within the penalty area, Soufiane Rahimi was able to score from 12 yards.

In the second half, Spain performed better, and they equalized on minute 66. Fermin Lopez of FC Barcelona found himself unimpeded by a stray ball in the penalty area, and he scored his fourth strike in the competition to level the score at one. Spain scored a winner with five minutes to go, and it was scored from an unexpected place. After Fermin threaded the ball to Juanlu Sanchez, the Sevilla defender finished the comeback with aplomb.
