Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid talks in final phase

Real Madrid has reached an agreement with Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen to become their head coach. The Spanish coach is expected to sign a three-year contract immediately after the FIFA Club World Cup, as reported by MARCA.

Alonso is anticipated to onboard Sebas Parrilla as his assistant, a colleague from his time coaching Real Madrid’s youth academy. The two have collaborated since then, and Parrilla is regarded as an important component of Alonso's coaching approach. Physical trainer Alberto Encinas will be responsible for overseeing player conditioning.

Real Madrid have acknowledged Alonso's inputs on changing coaching staff and have asserted to make a decision on his appointment very soon.

Real Madrid is set to go trophy-less this season. Real Madrid have suffered their worst season ever since manager Carlo Ancelotti took over his second stint. The Galacticos not only failed to defend their UCL title but also lost three El-Classico against arch rivals FC Barcelona. Two of those losses came in the finals of the Copa Del Rey and the Supercopa de España. They also currently trail by 4 points to the leaders, FC Barcelona, in the La Liga standings.
