After supporters of Borussia Dortmund superstar Yan Couto detected an issue, his girlfriend swiftly removed a supportive social media message. The Brazil international Couto is presently on loan from Manchester City to Signal Iduna Park for the duration of the season.

After joining from Brazilian team Coritiba in 2020, he has never made a City appearance. However, he has had successful three years at Girona and loan stints at SC Braga. He was able to sign with Dortmund for this season due to his success with Girona, and he earned his UEFA Champions League debut against Club Brugge as a late substitute.

The 22-year-old started participating in the action 87 minutes in, at which point his girlfriend Mariana David sent a supportive message on her Instagram account. However, a Dortmund supporter claimed on Twitter a few minutes after it went online that the image she had used from a live broadcast actually came from a computer game. She wrote the story with the caption, "Even from afar, I'm always keeping my fingers crossed for you."

However, the screenshot itself seems incredibly realistic, with Couto sharing the same picture to his personal Instagram account once the game was over. Because Dortmund had on a different uniform on Wednesday from the one in the picture, it is unclear if the photograph was from an online game or an image from a different game featuring the two teams. However, the Instagram post was later removed in response to the allegations made on Twitter.

Borussia Dortmund cruise past Club Brugge

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, the former Manchester City youth standout, scored twice off the bench as Borussia Dortmund ultimately prevailed 3-0. The England youth star attended the City, Reading, and Chelsea academies during his formative years before relocating to Dortmund in 2022 to seek more first team opportunities.

The 20-year-old has unavoidably drawn comparisons to Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho, two players who quit English football at an early age in an effort to advance their careers at Borussia Dortmund.
