Wolverhampton Wanderers coach sacked

A man who is being called "a modern day Sir Alex Ferguson" is being pursued by Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Premier League team is thinking about moving for Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin, whose stunning Pittodrie start has surprised Scottish football.

The 13 victories in a row for the Swedish manager at Aberdeen have led to comparisons with Sir Alex, who became well-known as Aberdeen's manager before joining Manchester United. Thelin is of interest to Wolves at a time when manager Gary O'Neill's future is becoming less and less definite.

Following their Saturday loss to Brentford, O'Neil acknowledged he wasn't sure what would occur to his position. According to reports, O'Neil will be given some time to observe how he does during a more favorable stretch of games.

But if the team's fortunes don't improve, they might be obliged to make a shift. Another candidate who has been floated as a replacement is David Moyes. Although his Premier League background would work in his favor, it's not certain if Moyes would agree to participate in a relegation battle.

The loss of Thelin would be devastating to Aberdeen supporters. Even Ally McCoist, who has strong allegiances, has heaped plaudits on the Aberdeen head coach for his outstanding start to Scottish football. Thanks to Ante Palaversa's game-winning goal against managerless Jambos, the Dons defeated struggling Hearts 3-2 to maintain their lead over Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Will Jimmy Thelin lead Aberdeen to success in Scotland?

Thelin's 13-game winning streak across all competitions has McCoist's beloved Rangers down five points in the fight for the championship. After the international break, the Swedish manager will take Aberdeen to Celtic Park to take on Brendan Rodgers' reigning champions in their home stadium in what will be the ultimate measure of their title credentials.

McCoist acknowledged last week that Thelin has been doing a "great job" after taking manager at Pittodrie this past summer and that he has been delighted with the developing Reds.
