Manchester City set eyes on Celtic star, also agree deal to sign former star

English Premier League champions Manchester City are looking to replace Julian Alvarez in the last few days of the transfer window. According to reports, the Blues are looking to sign 29-year-old Japanese star Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic. The move comes after Pep Guardiola saw Julian Alvarez leave Man City for Athletico Madrid. 

The Athletic reported on Wednesday that Manchester City are looking at numerous options. One of the best according to the newspaper has seen the Japanese star emerge as the right candidate. 

Ilkay Gundogan is set for a move back to Manchester City after spending just a year at FC Barcelona. The German star is set to sign a 12-month contract after his contract with the Catalans expired. 

Who is Kyogo Furuhashi?

Japanese star Kyogo Furuhashi has been in tremendous form in the Scottish league since move in 2021. The Japan international can play as a winger and also as a forward and began his career with FC Gifu where he played 68 matches and scored 17 goals. 

His next move was to Vissel Kobe where he churned out 95 matches and scored 42 goals. Seeing Kyogo Furuhashi perform well, Celtic brought him for 4.5 Million Euros. The 29-year-old has been an instant hit at Celtic where he has played 96 matches and scored 53 goals. Furuhashi has also played 21 matches for his national side and scored 5 goals. 

Meanwhile, former Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan is set for a return to the club. The German star spent a year at FC Barcelona on a short-term deal before he stated his desire to return to the Etihad Stadium. 

The player’s wife during an interview with Daily Mail had said “When I was in Manchester, my whole life was (originally) around football. My friends were football, the people I met through my husband, and then I didn't have anything that was just my world outside of that”

“And I'm a social person. So it took me a bit of time, but I made it friends and it was really nice. After making friends, I was really happy. I had my own life and routine in Manchester and I have one of my best friends there." Sara Gundogan further added
