During an interview recently, Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny talked about a range of subjects pertaining to both his personal and professional lives, such as his recent agreement with FC Barcelona, his opinions on smoking, and a few of his new teammates. Wojciech Szczesny made it clear where he stands on smoking, saying he smokes occasionally and doesn't think it would have a long term impact on his play.
The goalie underlined that his personal life shouldn't be discussed in public, saying that he continually provides his all at work and doesn't smoke in front of kids to avoid setting a terrible example. The former Arsenal keeper said, "I try to keep it private, but sometimes someone takes photos of me in secret. I can’t control that, but what matters is that I continue to be judged as a professional footballer, not for what I do off the field."
The former Juventus goalkeeper added, “I don't do it in front of the children so that they don't have a bad influence. Sometimes they take pictures of me hiding behind the trees, where I can't see them. This is not up to me anymore. I try to hide it and not show it to people.”
“I expected a technical defender” : Wojciech Szczesny
After retiring from football this past summer, the goalie decided to come back, crediting FC Barcelona's alluring offer and his buddy and fellow countryman Robert Lewandowski as major motivators. Szczesny had made the decision to retire, even though his physical condition could have supported a few more seasons of action, but it was impossible to resist the lure of joining the Catalan club.
Additionally, Wojciech Szczesny discussed his opinions of a few FC Barcelona players, noting that defender Pau Cubarsí came as a welcome surprise. He said, "I expected a technical defender, perhaps a bit softer, and I was impressed to see him make such solid decisions and be defensively very strong."
