FC Barcelona's premier striker, Robert Lewandowski, didn't feature in either of the last two important fixtures against Real Madrid and Inter Milan due to a hamstring injury. Although Barcelona went on to win one and draw the fixture, his absence was evidently felt by the Catalans.
FC Barcelona's manager Hansi Flick came up with important updates about the Polish striker ahead of a very important journey next week. Barcelona will travel to San Siro for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals on May 7th.
Robert Lewandowski to return in second leg of UCL semi-finals
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has shared an optimistic update regarding Robert Lewandowski's recovery from the hamstring injury he sustained during the 4-3 victory over Celta Vigo in April. Flick’s encouraging remarks are sure to boost morale, as the striker is set to return for the all-important fixture.
“Yes, Robert could be there against Inter; he’s doing well and progressing. He’s doing much better than we thought, but we have to wait. We know he’s a professional; he might be there this Tuesday.” Hansi Flick said in a press conference.
Robert Lewandowski has had a sublime season so far. The Polish striker has amassed 40 goals in a mere 48 appearances for FC Barcelona. His attacking awareness and goal-poaching instincts, coupled with years of experience, may become the differential point between both sides come match day. At the moment, both the teams are tied at 3 goals apiece, and the second leg at San Siro will see one of the former champions get a step closer to the finals of the UCL.
However, before the Catalans visit San Siro, they will clash against Real Valladolid in an important La Laliga fixture. Hansi Flick and his side will be in pursuit of a victory in this fixture to consolidate their position at the top of the league standings.
