Barcelona's manager Hansi Flick made a comparison between Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski and Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo as the team prepares for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. The German manager who has led the resurgence of the Catalan club. The Catalan giants are vying for a treble this season.
Barcelona already sits at the top of the Ligaiga standings and will compete for the domestic cup – Copa del Rey – against Real Madrid in the finals on April 26th.
Robert Lewandowski as good as Cristiano Ronaldo
Barcelona are poised to secure their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League, carrying a commanding 4-0 lead into Germany for the second leg of their quarter-final match against Borussia Dortmund. Former Dortmund standout Lewandowski shone brightly in the encounter at Montjuïc last week, scoring twice to ensure a decisive victory for the Catalan club.
In the first-leg fixture against Borussia Dortmund, Lewandowski achieved the 40-goal mark in a season for the eighth time in his career. Ahead of the second leg, Blaugrana manager Hansi Flick acknowledged the Polish forward, drawing a comparison between the striker and Al-Nassr icon Ronaldo.
"When you play at this level at this age... on one hand, it comes down to his fitness, and on the other hand, he takes great care of himself. Like Cristiano Ronaldo, he has an amazing physical structure. He is very professional and controls all factors to deliver optimal performance." Flick said.
Robert Lewandowski has rediscovered his goal-poaching instincts this season, having scored 37 goals this season. He is already the highest goal scorer in La Liga and stands second in the list of goal scorers in the UCL.
Following their match against the Bundesliga club on Tuesday, Flick's team will compete in La Liga on Saturday, facing Celta Vigo at home.
