Real Madrid's Galacticos signing, Kylian Mbappe, recently faced a setback with an injury during the first half of Atalanta's match. Despite showing great promise by scoring the opening goal in the competitive 3-2 victory against Atalanta in the Champions League, he unfortunately had to be substituted after just 35 minutes due to a left thigh injury. This marked his second muscle injury of the season.
Carlo Ancelotti initially attempted to minimize the seriousness of the situation, citing Mbappe's early exit due to hamstring discomfort. However, subsequent medical evaluations have uncovered a more serious issue, raising significant concerns about his availability shortly. Reports from AS indicated that the striker would be out of action for up to 10 days. The prognosis also ruled him out of Saturday’s critical La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano. More concerning for Real Madrid was his reported expulsion, from the Intercontinental Cup final scheduled for December 18 in Qatar.
"After the tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappe by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the thigh of his left leg. His progress will be monitored." said the club statement.
Mbappe provided an update about his availability
Mbappe has officially joined Real's squad that travelled to Doha for the Intercontinental Cup. According to Jose Felix Diaz, he has communicated to the Real medical staff that he is fit to start the match against Pachuca on Wednesday. A definitive decision will be made following the training session conducted a day prior to the finals on December 17th.
