Kylian Mbappe is currently dealing with a dental issue that has led to his absence from the training sessions ahead of Real Madrid's Copa del Rey semi-final match against Real Sociedad.
The 26-year-old forward underwent a tooth extraction earlier this week, which unfortunately limited his ability to participate in training sessions. Despite Carlo Ancelotti's hopes that Mbappe would be ready for the first leg of the semi-final, he was unable to recover in time to be included in the matchday squad.
Ancelotti was hopeful of Mbappe's chances to rejoin the squad
During a media briefing, Ancelotti mentioned that Mbappe would travel with the team and had a possibility of playing; however, he missed training due to a dental issue. Ultimately, when Real Madrid revealed the squad for the Copa del Rey on Wednesday afternoon, Mbappe was not included.
“He had a problem with a tooth and couldn’t train. He’s traveling tomorrow and can play. Everyone who travels has a chance of playing the game.” Ancelotti said earlier.
Additionally, Real Madrid's lineup for the Copa del Rey match will also be without two important players: Thibaut Courtois and Federico Valverde. Ancelotti opted to rest them for this game, a decision aimed at managing the team's workload effectively as the Galacticos get ready to square off in important clashes up ahead.
Mbappe's absence opens the door for players like Arda Guler and Endrick to showcase their talent and earn crucial playing time. Despite the speculation surrounding the future of these young players in the Spanish capital, Ancelotti has firmly stated that they are essential to the club's vision moving forward. Mbappe’s exclusion from the Copa del Rey clash heightens concerns regarding his fitness and potential availability for upcoming matches with Real Madrid.
