Reports suggest that Ivory Coast's winger  Wilfried Zaha is on the verge of leaving Galatasaray and making a surprising move to France.

The Athletic has reported that the 31-year-old winger is nearing a season-long loan switch to Lyon. Although the deal between Galatasaray and Lyon is not yet finalized, talks are progressing well, and both clubs are hopeful of reaching an agreement soon.

Fabrizio Romano's update on Zaha

Famous football transfer news journalist, Fabrizio Romano updates on his X about Zaha's potential transfer to Lyon.

His post on X read: 'Olympique Lyon is closing in on a deal to sign Wilfried Zaha. Deal in place with Galatasaray and the player, working on final details.'

What's up next for Zaha

Wilfried Zaha has been the subject of interest from several clubs during the summer, including former club Crystal Palace and Leicester City. While Leicester had been working on a loan deal, Palace also looked into the possibility of bringing back their former star. However, the financial and tax-related challenges linked to a return to the UK led Zaha to explore opportunities away from the English top flight.

Wilfried Zaha has had a tough time at the Turkish Club Galatasaray since joining them on a free transfer from Crystal Palace last summer. Despite starting just 13 Super Lig games last season, he is willing to join Lyon to find better opportunities. Lyon finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season and has had a rocky start in the new campaign with defeats to Rennes and Monaco. Lyon fans are expecting Zaha to make an impact and help the team return to winning ways and maybe even topple PSG to win the French Club crown.
