Mohamed Salah is undoubtedly among the top three all-time greats at Liverpool, yet there are reasons why he might not reach the No. 1 spot. The Reds brought Salah back to English football in the summer of 2017 after his time at Chelsea, and expectations were mixed at that point. However, the prolific forward has since exceeded those expectations, setting numerous records with his stunning performances at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah has established himself as a Liverpool legend, registering an impressive 237 goals in just 383 appearances. With over 150 goals in the Premier League alone, he has not only made his mark but has also clinched numerous titles, including the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
As questions swirl about the future of the 32-year-old as his contract approaches its end, one thing is clear: being Salah's legacy at Liverpool is already assured. Whenever he decides to leave Merseyside, his place among the club's greatest figures is indisputable.
Salah cannot topple the two Liverpool greats
When asked about Mohamed Salah's position on that list, former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore shared his insights in a conversation with Goal.
“You look at the runners and riders—you are looking at Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, Ian Rush. Crikey, there are so many players you could think of. But a top five player for sure," he said.
“He wouldn’t get in above Kenny or Gerrard. That might sound odd because he may come out having won more than Steven Gerrard, but I think the amount that Liverpool were carried by Gerrard and of course Kenny Dalglish won everything there was to win in a dominant Liverpool era. I would put him number three—Kenny Dalglish first and Steven Gerrard second,” he added.
Salah has propelled Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table, advanced the team to the last-16 of the Champions League, secured a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup, and led them to another Carabao Cup final.
