Gunner's center-back, French International William Saliba, will warm the bench while his team clashes against rivals Liverpool in the upcoming fixture of the Gunners. Saliba's absence comes due to a nasty yet 'professional' foul he committed on Bournemouth's striker Evanilson in pursuit of stopping a potential goal-scoring opportunity in the 30th minute of the match time.

The Tale of Saliba's Booking

Saliba received his first yellow booking in the 27th minute for a tough foul on Evanilson. As the Bournemouth striker was about to kick the ball, Saliba sprinted in but ended up tripping him from behind in the middle of the field.

Rob Jones, the Referee for the game, revised his decision following the VAR review and ordered Saliba to march out while the scoreline read 0-0. Hence, Saliba will not be participating for Arsenal in their upcoming Premier League fixture on October 27, adding to the woes of management who are already busy finding ways to climb up the rankings. Gunners will host Shakhtar Donetsk at home on October 22 as part of the UEFA Champions League group stage, featuring Saliba.

Saliba Will miss only One Fixture

William Saliba only received a one-match ban following his straight red card. The decision reflects the nature of his foul, which was deemed a professional last-man challenge, allowing him to return sooner than initially expected.

Saliba’s tackle prevented a potential goal-scoring opportunity for Bournemouth forward Evanilson. In situations like this, Premier League players typically face a one-match ban. However, straight red cards for violent conduct or dangerous tackles usually result in a three-match suspension or more, while red cards issued for dissent carry a two-match ban.
