Manchester United's goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has been 'rested' by club manager Ruben Amorim following a horrific performance in the last fixture. Onana has been dropped at a time when the club is actively looking for reinforcements ahead of the next transfer window.
Manchester United conceded a late goal against Lyon FC after Onana's dismal performance in the fixture. The performance brought waves of criticism not just towards the player but also towards the club's management.

André Onana joined Manchester United with a strong reputation as a goalkeeper, having impressed at both Ajax and Inter Milan. However, his performances with the Red Devils have not reflected that promise. In his most recent outing against Lyon, he made two blunders following a series of provocative remarks and a verbal dispute with Nemanja Matic. As a result, he has reportedly been left out of United's squad for the upcoming clash against Newcastle on Sunday.
As per the reports of Manchester Evening News, Amorim has given some time off to the Cameroonian goalkeeper ahead of the important second-leg Europa League quarter-finals clash. Onana is said to be suffering from mental distress ever since his wife was robbed of her expensive belongings in the Cheshire village of Alderley Edge.
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is empathetic to Onana and his current situation and hence gave him some time off the pitch to gather his head. It is also reported that many co-players at Manchester United wanted him to be benched.
There is a possibility that the goalkeeper may be benched; Onana would have to get back to his usual self and back his ability to cement his place in the team.
