Georges Mikautadze has been the newest rising star in the UEFA Euro 2024. The Georgia striker is presently the highest goal scorer (3) in the major tournament. He has helped his side to qualify for the knockout rounds as well after they defeated Portugal in their final group stage game. He sealed the deal by scoring the second goal of the game after they were awarded a penalty against Roberto Martinez’s side.

He has proved to be the hero for Willy Sagnol's side so far in the tournament. In three games he has etched his name on the score sheet every time he has taken the field. He became the side’s first goal scorer in a major tournament in a 3-1 loss against Turkiye. He has surpassed the likes of Niclas Fullkrug, Jamal Musiala, Cody Gakpo, Razvan Marin, and Ivan Schranz in the top scorer lists.

The FC Metz striker had 31 combined goals and assists were the highest in the French second division. He was also named the Ligue 2 Player of the Year for his amazing display in the 2021-22 season. Following the season in Ajax he failed to deliver and returned to the French league in the 2023-24 season, where he scored 13 goals and 4 assists to his name in Ligue 1 for FC Metz.

Newcastle United interested in Euro top scorer

And then an amazing display in Euro 2024 is the very reason why several clubs have shown interest in signing the 23-year-old striker in the upcoming summer transfer window. Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Newcastle United, Olympique Marseille, AS Monaco, and RC Lens are the clubs that have shown interest in signing the footballer in the transfer window.

The French club is expected to sell for about €25 million (£21.1 million) this summer after being relegated to Ligue 2 after the 2023–2024 season. FIFA agent Willie McKay has been given exclusive authority by Metz president Bernard Serin to discuss Mikautadze with prospective teams. As he gains interest from big clubs it will be interesting on where he signs for the 2024/25 season.
