Jonathan David scored the first goal for Canada in the Copa America history. The Canucks striker made history after he led the side to their first victory in their debut season in the major tournament. They defeated Peru in the second match after the game was deadlocked for 73 minutes and a sudden counterattack from Alphonso Davies's side led the Peruvian defense wide open in a two versus-two situation Jacob Shaffelburg played a delightful ball to the LOSC Lille striker. 

The 24-year-old striker was signed by Lille back in the 2020-21 season on a five-year contract. The fee for David was €30 million, making him the most expensive Canadian transfer to date. He has been amazing for the club in the first season his first season with 13 league goals, with 11 coming since the turn of the year. In that very season, he helped the club win the Ligue 1 title as well. 

The Lille striker also scored nine goals during the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualification round and earned a place in the final squad for the World Cup as well. For his amazing goalscoring ability, he has been eyed by many big clubs in the upcoming summer transfer window. Mainly clubs from the English Premier League have taken out an option to sign the footballer in the 2024/25 season. 

Where will David sign in the summer window?

There has been a battle between four of the EPL clubs to sign the footballer, Manchester United, Chelsea, West Ham United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all in the race to sign the footballer in the summer. He scored 26 goals in 47 games across all competitions last season for his club. He managed nine assists, too and that has attracted the clubs from England. 

All these four clubs require a prolific goal-scorer who can be lethal in front of the box and score lots of goals for them, The agent has been in and around England and has been seeking the best possible deal that his client can get in the upcoming window. It will be interesting to watch which club finally wins the tug-of-war to sign the footballer.
