After negotiations with Artem Dovbyk went down, Atletico Madrid is now searching for another striker and has refocused on Alexander Sorloth of Villarreal, who was previously thought to be their primary priority.

Dovbyk has reached an agreement with Roma, who plan to offer Girona a proposal of €35 million, going up to €40 million in the next few days. Villarreal has been questioned by Los Rojiblancos on his demands for Sorloth, who possesses a €38 million release clause.  Relevo claims that instead of just requesting his release clause, Villarreal is now in negotiations with Atletico over terms, which is different from what happened previously in the transfer window.

However, rumors suggest that Atletico would be interested in Randal Kolo Muani or Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain. Although there have been reports of this in the past, it has continuously been mentioned that it would probably be a loan deal. The two arrived for more than €150 million apiece, and Los Colchoneros will not be willing to pay nearly as much as PSG did to sign them.

Atletico are also hopeful that they will be able to recruit Manchester City's Julian Alvarez. However, even this looks a bit optimistic given the most recent reports from England, which state that the English Premier League winners would need to offer a package of €90 million in order to let him go—a sum that appears to be beyond Atletico's means.

Atletico Madrid look to sign Connor Gallagher from Chelsea

Gallagher might be sold by Chelsea to Atletico Madrid , who are rumored to have offered the England midfielder a contract worth up to €40 million. That is a lot less than the £50 million Chelsea had hoped to fetch in the summer, when Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur showed interest in the academy product, even though he still has less than a year left on his deal.

Gallagher may leave his boyhood club on a free transfer this summer. It is unclear if he would be open to a move to Atletico, but he is thought to be willing to remain at Chelsea should the terms of the move are not satisfactory to him.
