Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the German international, was taken off on a stretcher after tripping during the team's 5-1 triumph against Villarreal on Sunday. FC Barcelona announced on Monday that goalie Marc-Andre ter Stegen would undergo surgery to repair a ruptured knee tendon.

The captain of the team may miss the remainder of the campaign as a result. Before halftime at Villarreal's Estadio de la Ceramica, Ter Stegen, who was criticized for his blunder during FC Barcelona's 2-1 UEFA Champions League loss to AS Monaco on Thursday, sustained the injury.

FC Barcelona issued a statement regarding the injury. “Ter Stegen has a complete rupture in the patella tendon in his right knee. On Monday afternoon he will undergo a surgical process and once complete a new update will be released."

Ter Stegen was replaced by Inaki Pena, who will now stand in for the German. However, FC Barcelona may try to find a successor. Following the retirement of veteran Bayern Munich player Manuel Neuer from overseas duty in August, Ter Stegen played two Nations League games for Germany in September.

It's too early to remark on this, according to Flick. He said, "I think it will be a huge injury, when he lay down on the field... you can see it directly. I don't know if I like this question directly after the match... I just want to see how Marc is, he's our captain and is a very important player for us.”

Claudio Bravo ready to make comeback for FC Barcelona

Claudio Bravo, who was formerly of Manchester City and Barcelona, also announced his retirement this summer at the age of 41. However, he told WinWin (via Diario AS) that he would be ready "should Barca call."

The last four years of the Chilean legend's career have been spent with Real Betis, where he has spent much of it challenging Rui Silva for the top slot. During those four seasons, he made 74 appearances, giving up 81 goals and maintaining 23 clean sheets. He made nine appearances last year and twenty-one the season before.
