Real Madrid currently holds the second position in the standings with eight points, trailing rivals Barcelona by four points. On the other hand, Real Sociedad is positioned 14th with four points from their four opening matches.

Real Sociedad's only victory came against newly promoted Espanyol, with Take Kubo scoring a late winner. The hosts have struggled, scoring just three goals in their opening matches.

Real Madrid, under Carlo Ancelotti, remains unbeaten so far. However, their 1-1 draws away from home against Mallorca and Las Palmas have put them in a position where they are playing catch up to Barcelona.

There were high hopes for Kylian Mbappe to continue his goal-scoring streak, especially after finally opening his La Liga account with two goals in a win over Real Betis before the international break.

Vinicius took first and Mbappe took the second Penalty

In the early stages of the second half, Real Sociedad defender Sergio Gomez conceded a penalty to Real Madrid with an unfortunate handball. Vinicius Junior successfully converted the penalty in the 57th minute, giving Real Madrid a 1-0 lead.

In the 72nd minute, the talented Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior made an impressive run into Real Sociedad's box and drew a foul, resulting in another penalty for his team. This time, he entrusted the penalty kick to the Frenchman Kylian Mbappe. Mbappe lived up to the expectations and confidently scored, extending Madrid's lead to 2-0.

Soon after, Mbappe converted the penalty that was created by Vinicius Junior; both men got involved in celebrating the goal by striking Mbappe's pose, that is, crossing their arms and tucking his hands underneath his armpits. It has become one of the most iconic goal celebrations in the world.
