The Norwegian forward, Erling Haaland achieved Premier League history last Saturday with his second goal against Brentford. Despite being the heavy favourites, the visitors stunned the Etihad Stadium by taking the lead just 22 seconds into the game, with Yoane Wissa capitalizing on an Ederson mistake.
However, Pep Guardiola’s team fought their way back into the game, with Haaland scoring the equalizer just before the 20-minute mark. The striker then put his team in the lead after 30 minutes and also set a new Premier League record, becoming the first player in the league’s history to score nine goals in the opening four games.
A Record-Shattering Goal for Halland
Once again, Etihad venue bore witness to an outstanding performance by Erling Haaland. He took control of the game with exceptional play as a centre-forward, single-handedly turning the score around. Credit is also due to Ederson, who kept City in the game when they could have been more than 1-0 down and then set up the opportunity for Haaland to score his second goal.
In the 32nd minute, Brentford won another set piece, but Ethan Pinnock's header was saved by Ederson, who claimed it hit the bar. Suddenly, the score became 2-1. A stunning long ball from Ederson caught Pinnock off guard, allowing Haaland to have a one-on-one opportunity, which he didn't miss. This was his ninth goal of the season and the 99th goal for City.
