In the Dortmund BVB Stadion, a brawl broke out between supporters prior to Tuesday's UEFA Euro 2024 match involving Turkey and Georgia. According to a Reuters journalist inside the stadium, there were about 40 supporters from each group engaged in the brief altercations, and police intervened between them.

Turkey's Euro 2024 journey begins on Tuesday night in Dortmund when they play Georgia, a team that has never been in a competition. Three years back, Turkey was picked by many to sneak up on everyone and have a strong run, but they completely failed at Euro 2020. Even though Vincenzo Montella's team had a successful qualifying campaign, excitement around them hasn't been as intense going into Euro 2024.

Young offensive energy abounds in Montella's team, and Tuesday's Turkey lineup is anticipated to include Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz. While Yildiz, formerly of Bayern Munich, showed glimpses of his potential for Juventus last season, the highly regarded Guler concluded the first year at Real Madrid strongly. Technically adept midfield pivots Hakan Calhanoglu and Ozan Kocku will operate in, while veteran playmaker Yusuf Yazici is sidelined due to sickness.

Giorgi Loria is suspended, but this summer, the seasoned goalie is only anticipated to be a backup. Otar Kiteishvili, who has been practicing by himself ahead of Tuesday's game, is a potential injury concern for Willy Sagnol, but there is optimism that the midfield player will be well enough to make an appearance against Turkey.

What to expect from the game between Turkey and Georgia?

Turkey is in pretty bad shape going into UEFA Euro 2024, but because of the lower expectations, Montella's team has a chance to surprise some people this summer. They have midfielders who can dictate and control games, and their nimble attacking skills might cause a stir.

Turkey should have a lot of possession against a Georgia squad that will be physical but will want to take advantage of their opponents by going for the steal. Sagnol's team might succeed in this area given the opportunities they enjoy.
