FC Bayern Munich set to land Portuguese superstar from English Premier League after 6-month long transfer saga

FC Bayern Munich are on the verge of making their first signing of the summer transfer window as they have agreed terms with Portuguese midfielder.

Florian Plettenberg revealed that Fulham player João Palhinha has mutually agreed to sign with Bayern Munich. The previous season, Der Rekordmeister came close to landing the Portuguese international. Palhinha had finished his physical for the record champions after reaching an agreement with the English Premier League club.

Despite the fact that the 28-year-old had shot images in Bayern's uniform before the announcement, the agreement fell through. Fulham cancelled the transfer because they were unable to locate a substitute prior to the deadline. With an agreement established with the player, the former champions are prepared to begin talks with the London-based side. Fulham is said to appreciate the 28-year-old's desire to move to Bayern, however they are seeking suitable compensation.

Last summer, the two clubs agreed to a €65 million price for the Portuguese midfielder. However, Fulham called off the move after failing to find an alternative for the midfielder prior to the transfer window closed. As reported by Sky Germany, the agreement has been reopened, and the 28-year-old will probably sign for roughly £35-40 million.

Palhinha continued to be the club's top objective for the role, according to new manager Vincent Kompany, following a trophyless campaign for the German club. The verbal agreement is claimed to have been reached, and the clubs now need to ratify the agreement, with Bayern hoping to complete the trade before the UEFA Euro 2024 commence next Friday.  

Josip Stanisic set to stay at Bayern Munich

According to Sky Sport, Josip Stanišić, who just had a successful season with Bayer Leverkusen, will join Bayern Munich's preparations for the following season. Bayern currently has four wide defenders: Alphonso Davies, Raphaël Guerreiro, Sacha Boey, and Noussair Mazraoui, excluding youth players. The Rekordmeister is additionally watching at AC Milan's Theo Hernandez in case Davies left, although they may sign him anyhow.

Both Vincent Kompany and Bayern Munich want to retain Josip Stanišić and are preparing with him. There are currently not any talks with Leverkusen. Several clubs have inquired about Stanišić, although the player is set to join Bayern when pre-season begins.
