Liverpool crushed a miserable West Ham United at the London Stadium, increasing their advantage at the top of the Premier League to eight points. Arne Slot's unstoppable team had won 6-3 against Tottenham seven days prior, so the result was never in question following a first-half masterpiece that soundly defeated the pathetic Hammers. It was another fantastic goal-fest.
Both teams had a strong start to the match, with West Ham's backup goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola saved three times against Liverpool's attack. Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones tried a one-two in the box shortly before the half, but it was cut out, but thankfully rebounded for the Colombian forward to score. Mohammed Kudus of West Ham attempted to equalize but missed the post with a shot from beyond the area.
Mohamed Salah added another goal and an assist to his season totals, Liverpool leads 3-0 at halftime thanks to Salah's excellent shooting. Salah appeared to flick the ball from his right foot to his left after Curtis Jones played the ball just inside the right side of the box. As a result, he slipped the ball through West Ham center-back Konstantinos Mavropanos's legs.
Salah now has eight Premier League games this season when he has both scored and provided an assist. The record was set after just 17 and a half 2024–2025 games, and it already stands for the entire season.
A more surprising goal came from Trent Alexander-Arnold in the second half when his effort deflected in off Max Kilman after he had blasted it from the edge of the area. Once again destroying the West Ham United defense, Salah set up Liverpool for a fifth goal. Diogo Jota then slipped in inside the penalty area and finished into the top right corner.
