WATCH: Toni Kroos gets ready to participate in The Icon League

The secret is out, Elias Nerlich and Toni Kroos have joined forces to introduce "The Icon League," a small-sided football competition with the goal of setting itself apart from conventional professional football, in the summer of 2024. Toni Kroos would be playing in the tournament as well with his team’s name being, B2B United.

Football and streamers are a popular combo that has grown even more after the King's League's successful early 2023 premiere. Former and present players are collaborating to create their own version of a small-sided football league that incorporates entertainment value. The competition to become the most prominent streamers has intensified behind closed doors. Now, under "The Icon League," professional football player Toni Kroos and streaming sensation Elias Nerlich aim to surpass their rivals. 

When the tournament was announced, the former Real Madrid midfielder told the media that, "There are a large number of fans who are also keen for a different soccer format. For a faster, more varied, more action-packed, more eventful game, in which there can suddenly be unforeseen twists and turns, i.e. more goals and more entertainment. And that's exactly what we will offer."

The former Bayern Munich legend's partner Elias Nerlich said that, "many well-known names from the soccer scene, the entertainment sector and the music industry have already committed to join The Icon League. In the coming weeks and months, we will reveal who we have already been able to win over for our league. The lineup is sick."

Elias Nerlich added, "Many people want to do what we're planning. Some of them approached me, but I'm much more excited about creating something of my own with Toni and the strong team behind us. They called me or wrote to me and wanted me to join their leagues. But by then my mind was already made up: my own league. Created according to the ideas and concepts of Toni Kroos and me. Our league. The Icon League."
