Tony de Zorzi of South Africa made a spectacular catch to remove Prabath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka, and he celebrated like Cole Palmer, the lucky charm of Chelsea. Day 3 of the first Test match against Sri Lanka ended with a thrilling catch by South African starter Tony de Zorzi at short leg. The visitors were having trouble on November 29 when the day's last ball landed with a wicket, leaving batsman Prabath Jayasuriya stunned.
The breakthrough came when Kagiso Rabada hit a full ball between middle and leg in the 30th over. Jayasuriya seemed to have timed it perfectly, but De Zorzi's lightning-fast reactions caused him to automatically raise his right hand, and the ball stayed, causing the South African teammates to celebrate joyfully.
Rabada had already removed Dimuth Karunaratne during the fifth over, and this was his second wicket in the innings. Sri Lanka had fallen to 103/5 at stumps, chasing an improbable winning score of 516. Angelo Mathews and Kamindu Mendis were sent back by Marco Jansen, and Pathum Nissanka’s wicket was scalped by Gerald Coetzee.
In Durban, De Zorzi only managed to score 21 runs in the two innings. But ultimately, Temba Bavuma's 70-run innings helped South Africa dominate with the bat, taking them to 191. With Marco Jansen claiming an incredible seven wickets, Sri Lanka was skittled for 42, and that score proved to be more than plenty.
Tony de Zorzi and his Cole Palmer celebration
The visitors crushed the Tigers in the second Test match involving South Africa and Bangladesh taking place at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Proteas, batting first, had 307/2 on the board after stumps on day 1. Tristan Stubbs and Tony de Zorzi stole the show as they put South Africa ahead with a 201-run partnership for the second wicket.
Notably, Tony imitated Cole Palmer, Chelsea's golden kid, when he reached his tonne. Tony flicked a ball from Mehidy Hasan for a boundary in the 55th over. Then, like the Chelsea superstar does after netting a goal, he joined Palmer in celebrating by massaging his biceps.
