The 16-year-old Chido Obi-Martin announced on Monday night his decision to leave the Gunners during the summer via Instagram. Expert in transfer business Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that he has agreed to Manchester United's offer. Obi-Martin reportedly made United his first choice after becoming persuaded by the Manchester club's continuing ambition.

Obi-Martin moved to Arsenal from Denmark's Kjobenhavns Boldklub. When he was fifteen, he played for Arsenal's U18 team, starting and netting a hat-trick upon his debut. But in an U16 match against Liverpool in November of last year, he struck 10 goals during a 14-3 victory that stands out as his most remarkable Arsenal moment. Five months afterwards, Obi-Martin scored seven goals to lead the U18 team to a 9-0 win over Norwich.

On social media, the striker revealed that he is leaving Arsenal permanently. He said that, “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Arsenal for the past four years. The experiences and growth I've achieved here have been truly invaluable. A special thanks to the coaches, staff, and team-mates at Hale End. The memories made will always be remembered. Thank you once again for this journey. I wish everyone continued success and all the best for the future.”

What convinced Chido Obi-Martin to join Manchester United

According to sources, Obi-Martin paid a visit to United's Carrington training facility last week in an attempt to persuade the striker to make a switch. He also had a discussion with legendary striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy about his progression. The team is now optimistic that a deal will be reached for him and it is about time that the announcements are made official.

Obi-Martin declined a new schoolboy contract given to him by Arsenal in order to remain there. Obi-Martin's hiring would be United's greatest success to date and shows their stature in the football world at such a young age as well. For Arsenal's Under-18 team, the Denmark young international tallied 29 goals during 17 league games.
