In a unique Clasico in Qatar on Thursday, Barcelona Legends enjoyed a friendly matchup with Real Madrid. With Eric Abidal, Gaizka Mendieta, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Ludovic Giuly, and David Villa in the starting lineup, the Catalans had no shortage of great talent. The game, which is being played in Qatar, will include several legendary players from both clubs. Real Madrid will be represented by Luis Figo and Clarence Seedorf, former Arsenal striker Julio Baptista, and former Bolton great Ivan Campo.

After eight minutes, Giuly crossed the ball for Juan Pablo Sorin to tap home at the far post, giving Barcelona the lead. Barca controlled the first half. After Ricardo Quaresma fell in the area, Barcelona could have won it late with a penalty kick, but Patrick Kluivert's attempt was saved, and the game finished evenly.

Juan Pablo Sorin gave Barca the lead early on, and the team won a free kick from about 22 yards away, which Ronaldinho, of course, chose to accept responsibility for. Real Madrid goalkeeper Francisco Buyo had little chance as the legendary midfielder stepped up and curled a stunning right-footed attempt into the upper left corner of the net. In the second half, Real Madrid equalized when Edwin Congo jumped upon a stray pass and slid the ball home after Figo had pulled one back. Ronaldinho played in 207 games with Barcelona, tallying 94 goals and 71 assists.

In the end, Real Madrid won 2-2 thanks to goals from Edwin Congo and Luis Figo in the second half. Late in the game, Barca had an opportunity to win with a penalty kick, but Pedro Contreras, the replacement goalie, stopped Kluivert's attempt. Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Javier Mascherano, and Rafa Marquez will all play for Barcelona Legends in their next encounter against the two teams in Tokyo on December 15.
