In a crucial Premier League match, the two preseason favorites to win the title square off against Manchester City and Arsenal. City overcame Arsenal to win the Premier League for the last two years in a competition that went all the way to the final game of the season. Despite City's unbeaten start to the season they have won each of their first four games Mikel Arteta's squad will be hoping to build on their three wins and one tie from earlier in the league.

Today, Riccardo Calafiori makes his Arsenal debut in full, and Kyle Walker starts the opening game of the season in place of the injured Martin Odegaard and Kevin De Bruyne. The match between Manchester City and Arsenal was called off after just FOUR seconds due to an odd occurrence involving Kai Havertz. The German and Rodri clashed a few seconds after Michael Oliver started the game. The midfielder for Manchester City needed medical attention when he slumped to the ground, holding his face.

There were just fifteen minutes remaining in the game, and the incidents kept coming. Spanish midfielder Rodri fell holding his knee as City tried to extend their advantage, necessitating extensive medical attention. Mateo Kovacic, Guardiola's midfield coworker, took over for the Euro 2024, forcing Guardiola to step in as well. Rodri made his Premier League debut just today, so City will be hoping he doesn't miss any games in the upcoming months.

Erling Haaland scored his 100th goal for Manchester City

Shortly after, there was another incident in which Erling Haaland, a striker for City, gave Arsenal's Gabriel Magalhaes a devastating tackle. Oliver, the referee, stepped in to give the Gunners a free kick but declined to punish the Norwegian attacker further. Given what he offered Pep Guardiola's team, Arsenal may have been hoping that he had. After getting past the Gunners' defense, he scored with a low, accurate finish.

Erling Haaland scored his 100th goal for Manchester City after effortlessly getting past an Arsenal defense that was out of sync. By breaking the tie against the Gunners, the Norwegian striker has matched Cristiano Ronaldo's renowned record. Many anticipated another close and cagey fight considering these two teams' previous matches, but after just nine minutes, the contest had already sprung to life. After receiving the ball on the right side, Savinho surged toward the box and slipped Haaland through, giving him enough of room to shoot past David Raya.
